We are looking for a government affairs and public policy professional based in Tokyo to join Salesforce's Government Affairs team.The Head of Government Affairs would work directly with the rest of the APAC government affairs team, and report directly to the Director for APAC, Government Affairs, to represent Salesforce's interests across Japan. This position also will have Government Affairs responsibility for regional growth markets near Japan, such as South Korea.Activities/Responsibilities:

+ + Develop and manage contacts with key influencers: elected and government officials, academics, industry leaders, and civil society.

  • Represent Salesforce before government, trade associations, think-tanks, and industry coalitions, including to secure any necessary government approvals.

  • Conduct analysis of political and regulatory issues that need to be advocated by Salesforce

  • Work with a cross-functional team -- legal, sales, PR, marketing, security, compliance to develop policy positions supporting multi-tenant, public cloud computing and enterprise software across Japan

  • Draft advocacy materials and position papers, including messages and chains of arguments to target audiences

  • Work with public sector teams to identify and develop business opportunities

  • Plan events that engage external leaders with Salesforce

Required Skills/Experience:

+ + Bachelor/Graduate degree, or equivalent proven experience in public policy and/or law

  • Fluency in Japanese and English

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Deep knowledge and experience of the policy-making process across Japan, and a desire to understand and learn technology policy

  • Experience working in government and/or government affairs (7-10 yrs)

  • Experience to develop/present public policy positions before government or other key stakeholders

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to travel
