Come help us build our next line of business! We are hiring a senior backend engineer to help deliver our next generation Commerce Search. We are building the Commerce Search platform from the ground up, and this is an opportunity to make an impact on a new and important part of our business. In the role, you will help shape the functionality for Commerce Search. Your responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high quality designs and implementations for APIs and backend functionality that drives our Commerce Search platform.

  • Mastering our development process, culture, and code base, and then improving it.

  • Operating effectively in a hybrid engineering model where engineers are expected to be able to design, implement, and ensure quality in their own code as well as that of other engineers.

  • Working closely with a team of engineers, product managers, user experience experts, and performance engineers to build new features while keeping our trusted platform stable and scalable.

  • Mentoring others in development technologies, tools, and processes.

  • Presenting your own designs to internal/external groups and reviewing designs of others.

  • Developing test strategies and writing unit/functional tests to drive up code coverage and automation metrics.

Required Skills:

  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals

  • Sound understanding of object oriented programming and experience with at least one object oriented programming language

  • Good knowledge of Java or similar programming language

  • Proven experience in developing large-scale, distributed, high-volume systems

  • Experience working with search platforms, such as Solr, Lucene, Elasticsearch

  • Good understanding of relational databases and SQL

  • Experience in automated testing including unit and functional testing

  • Understanding of the Agile process and continuous integration

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working closely with cross-functional teams across geographical locations

  • Experience with e-commerce software

  • Experience with enterprise multi-tenant software
