MuleSoft, a Salesforce Company, is looking for a highly skilled Sales Compensation Analyst to join our growing sales compensation team. This newly created position is responsible for incentive commission processing, reporting and case management functions. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and detail-oriented, with demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills. This role will be fully engaged in the support of our sales teams and is an outstanding opportunity to collaborate extensively with the global Sales organization.

About the Position:

Sales compensation at MuleSoft works closely with sales operations, FP&A, the CFO and the sales organization to align sales incentives with the strategic goals of MuleSoft in order to fuel our explosive growth. Additionally, we provide analytical support for the company's long term financial plan, executive level reporting to sales leaders and actionable insights that inform better decisions as we strive to build one of the world's greatest software companies.


  • Manage the monthly commission process for our sales teams and other commissionable employees. This includes understanding and applying the commission plan consistently, ensuring commissions calculations comply with the plan and managing exception requests versus policy.

  • Resolve case inquiries and be a trusted advisor to our sales team. Frequent communication with the sales organization via commission cases. Process corrections and adjustments as they arise.

  • Provide recommendations to sales leadership and the internal comp management team regarding exceptions requests and case escalations.

  • Be the trusted partner for all upstream and downstream business functions. Provide backup support within the team for the following areas: comp metrics and reporting, accounting schedules, SOX support, Commission checklists and commission administration.

  • Document business processes and create desktop procedures for monthly/quarterly close, commission accounting tasks, and audits.

  • Execute assigned projects as needed and recommend and deliver process improvements.

Education & Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience is required, ideally in sales compensation, finance, accounting or other related field. A Bachelor Degree required; Finance, Economics, or related field is preferred.

  • Strong communication (written and verbal), organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, along with strong attention to detail.

  • Experience in automated sales commissions systems and their set-up and operation is a plus (e.g. Xactly, Callidus, Oracle EIM, etc.).

  • Advanced skills in MS Excel is required.

  • Experience in administering sales commissions.

  • Ability to multi-task while managing deadlines, to perform well under pressure and to work independently and as a part of a team.

  • Good business acumen and awareness of business trends.

  • Strong communication (written and verbal), organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, along with strong attention to detail.
