Description:

The candidate will lead our company’s compliance efforts and relationship with social networks and other strategic partners, as well as counsel product & engineering teams for our Marketing Cloud business unit. The role will help determine our long-term strategy with respect to use of social network data, both from a legal compliance perspective and from a larger policy perspective. They will work closely with various cross-functional teams including Technology & Product, Strategic Product Alliances, Government Affairs, and Legal.

Responsibilities:

  • Become our resident expert on compliance with applicable law, industry guidelines, and social network terms and policies. Develop a perspective of future directions as the market category for social evolves.

  • Build relationships with social networks and other strategic partners

  • Provide guidance to product management teams on issues related to new and existing services, products, and features throughout the entire product lifecycle.

  • Review and negotiate agreements with service providers and technology partners.

  • Assist with acquisition and integration of products, content, services, and technologies, including due diligence and integration related to mergers and acquisitions.

  • Provide counseling and training on relevant issues.

  • Build cross-functional relationships with business teams as well as other members of the Legal Team to help drive efficient practices and consistency with internal policies and processes.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Undergraduate and law degree

  • 8+ years combined experience working on compliance or legal matters

  • Interest and aptitude for technology, including experience working on marketing or advertising technology

  • Experience counseling on compliance with social network terms of service and related product development

  • Experience with privacy and data protection issues and strong knowledge of global privacy laws, in particular GDPR.

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and negotiation skills.

  • Highly responsive with a service-oriented attitude.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage a high-volume workload in a fast-based and demanding work environment.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal clients.

  • Sound and practical business judgment.

  • Collaborative team player combined with ability to work independently.

  • Sense of humor.

Optional Skills/Experience:

  • Law degree

  • 8+ years combined experience in law firm and/or in-house legal department, preferably in the technology industry

  • 4+ years negotiating and drafting technology license agreements.

  • Well-grounded knowledge of intellectual property law.

  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP).

  • Familiarity with advertising technology and accompanying regulations
