Salesforce.org is hiring a Chief Ethical & Humane Use Officer to develop policies and principles around the Ethical and Humane Use of Salesforce.org Technology in collaboration with Salesforce.com’s Office of Ethical Use. The individual will drive a living framework to guide Salesforce.org's path forward in this space. This individual will listen, discover, create awareness, and collaborate on corporate policies to guide the creation, adoption and use of our technology. The ideal candidate will have experience and understanding of ethics in the development and application of technology business processes (optimally including CRM) and expertise in consensus-building among diverse teams. The candidate will participate with influential industry organizations and others in the working groups that shape ethical guidelines for the industry.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Report into the General Counsel of Salesforce.org and work collaboratively with Salesforce.com’s Office of Ethical Use and across all aspects of the business, including Tech and Product, External Communications, Legal, Integrity, and Employee Success.

  • Work with Salesforce.org’s board of directors, CEO and executive team to establish the vision, mission and objectives for Salesforce.org’s Ethical and Humane Use of Technology.

  • Map out stakeholders and engagement model, including communicating with and educate customers, partners, industry and academia in the emerging discipline of ethical use of technology. This person will have and/or quickly build a solid understanding of Salesforce products and capabilities, particular customer and partner base and sales processes and procedures.

  • Partner with thought leaders inside Salesforce.org to establish a common language and voice around Salesforce.org’s vision about the ethical use of technology.

  • Build out the program's activations between now and end of fiscal year.

  • Evaluate, on a case by case basis, customer, partner and community concerns that may arise with respect to the ethical use of Salesforce.org’s offerings.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • You have a strong business acumen and understanding of the appropriate role of technology of transforming business process, productivity and society.

  • You are a pragmatic problem solver, who can objectively and dispassionately assess risk - with a well developed ability to understand and withhold your own personal biases.

  • You have strong analytical ability and good judgment to help determine the applicability of ethical rules to our business.

  • You love being part of a team and actively engage with other team members to understand their needs and offer workable solutions. You develop great relationships internally and externally to further the goals of Salesforce.org, Salesforce and our greater Ohana.

  • Familiarity with the processes of developing corporate policies, public policies, multi-stakeholder frameworks and legal frameworks.

  • Capable of attaining thorough knowledge in Ethics of Technology and willingness to keep on top of changes and advancements in the field.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • A great listener with ability to communicate with people of diverse backgrounds.

SKILLS DESIRED:

  • 7+ years business experience with current / frequent CXO or board level engagement.

  • Strong experience leading multi-disciplinary teams driving significant business results.

  • A passion for the idea that technology can be a force for social good.

  • Knowledge of enterprise SaaS space.

  • Experience working in public policy .

  • Advanced degree such as a Masters or PhD.

  • Optional - Working knowledge of Salesforce & products.
