The Systems Specialist, Web applications is responsible for administering and managing our internal applications that support mission critical business processes. This position will support internal applications built on Salesforce products including Concierge, our internal intranet employee productivity service, and Trailhead, which provides interactive and engaging learning experiences. The successful candidate will be a technically savvy and enjoy collaborating with peer groups including IT and Tech & Products.

Position Summary:

The Web Apps systems specialist’s daily activities will include (but are not limited to) resolving technical and functional support issues, performing trend analysis and identifying enhancements to reduce support requests, and collaborating with development teams to improve the design of new functionality. The candidate must be agile and able to support multiple priorities. Prioritize production issues and be proactive in resolving them. Candidate must have extensive knowledge in Java and other HTML and CSS technologies including hands-on experience with data exchange protocols such as JSON and XML is required. Experience is Adobe AEM and Heroku is a strong plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Support custom web applications that integrate to the Salesforce platform and associated technologies including Heroku

  • Review and diagnose errors; take corrective action which may include coordinating with appropriate peer teams and escalating where necessary

  • Monitor support groups; provide advanced End-user support as necessary

  • Partner, support and collaborate with the IT Intranet development team to review runlists for new functionality being deployed to production environment

  • Partner with release team on deployment of new functionality across integrated environments

  • Coordinate environment changes/updates with other dependent teams (Supportforce and Peopleforce teams)

  • Proactively monitor the usage and alerts of internal platform and recommend solutions to improve system performance

  • Maintains updated system documentation and Salesforce policies/procedures

  • Actively transfers knowledge throughout organization, participates in knowledge sharing projects to develop best practices, leads knowledge sharing sessions, and mentors junior staff and new hires

  • Manages tasks and projects in a fast-paced support environment, driving all issues to resolution with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and efficient task execution

  • Maintain and demonstrate 100% compliance with all written security policies including password and certificate management, SOX procedures and change management controls

Must have / mandatory skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Management systems or related major.

  • Solid experience with Java, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 and attendant technologies

  • Hands-on experience with data exchange protocols like JSON and XML

  • Hands-on experience on REST, Sling and SOAP in a production environment

  • Strong understanding of Salesforce API’s and web services

  • At Least 4 years of hands on working knowledge with Unix/Linux based systems; highly proficient with the command line.

  • Experience with working with software product development team on feature enhancements

  • Understanding of best practices of software deployment implementations, including design patterns, release management, deployment strategies, and testing best practices

  • Experience with Jenkins/continuous integration/continuous delivery

  • Understanding of ITIL Service Support concepts including Incident and Problem Management

  • Ability to work flexibly and appropriate trade-offs to meet time constraints

  • Experience in automation and scripting and strong application debugging skills

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Experience and desire to work within a fast-paced, iterative development environment; experience with Agile a plus

Desired skills and experience

  • Experience in Heroku is a huge plus

  • Experience working with Adobe CQ (AEM) a huge plus

  • OpenStack/RackSpace experience is highly desirable

  • Content authoring on AEM and troubleshooting issues based on content
