Job Details About the position

As a Product Program Manager you will have the opportunity to meaningfully impact how our organization scales by owning and running product programs. Product programs at MuleSoft span the entire SLDC from roadmapping and product portfolio management to customer design partnerships and betas to GA readiness. In this role you will develop and grow product-related program(s) to bring together the Anypoint Platform Roadmap with internal service delivery processes. The position requires working cross-functionally with product management, engineering, product marketing, sales, technical field and back office teams.

Program management duties

  • Maintain program and project plans including risk analysis and mitigation strategies to meet aggressive timelines

  • Work with Product and Engineering managers to break down and organize program work into an effective plan

  • Track plan of actions and milestones towards implementation

  • Proactively track and recommend alternative approaches for risk mitigation

  • Provide leadership for program matrixed teams;

  • Establish and ensure the company’s processes are set up for sustainable, long-term operation

  • Communicate program updates to executive staff, product leadership and field teams

  • Assist MuleSoft teams in their effort to understand and implement programs

  • Drive clear decision making required to balance risk, effort and timelines

  • Support ongoing, continuous program efforts by developing and maintaining appropriate information and documentation

Cross-functional planning and coordination duties

  • Coordinate dependencies between teams

  • Ensure proper controls and monitoring are in place and tested

  • Manage MuleSoft’s internal program stakeholders including legal, financial, sales operations, enablement, services, training, support and sales teams

  • Represent external-facing programs to customers, partners and other external stakeholders

  • Gather feedback and data on program performance and success metrics and use information to drive improvements

  • Assist work of internal and external compliance auditors or advisors, as needed

Position deliverables

In 30 days you will

  • Learn existing programs by assisting product managers and engineering managers with projects in flight

  • Learn MuleSoft systems of record (Aha, Jira)

  • Learn who key stakeholders are

  • Understand Anypoint Platform products (take our Fundamentals course)

In 60 days we expect you to

  • Develop initial point of view on the project strategy and update program plan, including risk mitigation strategies and resource requirements

  • Set clear success goals and metrics

  • Work cross-functionally to get feedback and buy-in on program plan

Within 90 days you will be able to

  • Participate and prepare reviews and executive staff briefing

  • Lead effort to address critical gaps (product, process, people)

  • Speak on behalf of MuleSoft about the program to external partners, customers and agencies

  • 2 years experience managing technical projects or programs which includes:

  • Planning projects using traditional and agile methodologies

  • Leading small teams through change management

  • Performing information and data synthesis and recommendations

  • Reporting regularly to stakeholders at multiple business levels

  • Analyzing and managing risks

  • Conducting retrospectives

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, information security, computer science, or STEM discipline

  • Proven ability to work and effectively, prioritize and organize your work and the work of others in a highly dynamic environment

  • Demonstrated ability to establish net new processes or major process improvements


  • No certifications are required, but a plus if you have one or more: Lean, Scrum, Kanban or Scaled Agile certifications such as PMP, PMI-ACP or other PMI certifications, APMG, Six Sigma Belts, SAFe etc.
